News
2020-10-30: Because of the stricter COVID-19 restrictions in Östergötland, the course will be given online, not on campus, in period ht2 2020. Up-to-date information will be available on this webpage.
  • For communication, we will use email and Microsoft Teams. To send a request for being added to the course team, use this link.
  • The four lessons ("Lektion" in TimeEdit) will be replaced by Teams meetings, where students will have the opportunity to ask questions.
  • The other eleven classes on the schedule (which are normally lectures but appear in TimeEdit as "Introduktion" and "Seminarium") are cancelled, although the times for these meetings will remain in TimeEdit, in order to make it easier to follow the intended pace of the course. As a (partial) replacement for these classes, pre-recorded video material will be made available; there will be no live lectures online. If the need arises, we may use these times for scheduling additional Teams lessons.
  • Update: Extra Teams lessons are scheduled on Nov 10, Nov 24, Dec 8 (Tuesdays 10–12 in all cases). And now also Friday Dec 4, 8–10. And a question session before the exam, on Tuesday Jan 12, 10–12. So the schedule will be as follows:
    • Lecture 1, Tue Nov 3, 10–12: No meeting. I recommend that you use this as self-study time for Lecture 1. Read the relevant sections in the course programme (Lecture 1) and in the textbook (Sections 1.1–1.2), and try to get started with the exercises. Watch the video for Lecture 1, if you like.
    • Lesson 1, Wed Nov 4, 15–17: Online lesson in Microsoft Teams. (To say hello, discuss the format for the lessons, and get help with the exercises for Lecture 1.)
    • Lecture 2, Fri Nov 6, 8–10: No meeting, just recommended self-study time for Lecture 2. Read the course programme (Lecture 2) and the textbook (Sections 1.3–1.5), watch the video, work on the exercises. Some of the exercises for Lecture 2 are homework problems, you may begin submitting them as soon as you like.
    • Lecture 3, Tue Nov 10, 10–12: Extra online lesson in Microsoft Teams. Originally scheduled as Lecture 3, but since we are using this time slot for an extra online lesson, you will need to do the self-study for Lecture 3 at some other time (whenever it suits you, but probably after this session, not before).
    • Lecture 4, Fri Nov 13, 8–10: Self-study time for Lecture 4.
    • Lesson 2, Tue Nov 17, 10–12: Online lesson in Teams.
    • Lecture 5, Fri Nov 20, 8–10: Self-study time for Lecture 5.
    • Lecture 6, Tue Nov 24, 10–12: Extra online lesson in Teams. (Do self-study for Lecture 6 at some other time.)
    • Lecture 7, Fri Nov 27, 8–10: Self-study time for Lecture 7.
    • Lesson 3, Tue Dec 1, 10–12: Online lesson in Teams.
    • Lecture 8, Fri Dec 4, 8–10: Extra online lesson in Teams. (Do self-study for Lecture 8 at some other time.)
    • Lecture 9, Tue Dec 8, 10–12: Extra online lesson in Teams. (Do self-study for Lecture 9 at some other time.)
    • Lecture 10, Wed Dec 9, 15–17: Self-study time for Lecture 10.
    • Lecture 11, Mon Dec 14, 8–10: Self-study time for Lecture 11.
    • Lesson 4, Tue Dec 15, 10–12: Online lesson in Teams.
    • Question session, Tue Jan 12, 10–12: Online lesson in Teams.
  • Submit your homework problems by email to hans.lundmark@liu.se continually during the course. Handwritten solutions are fine, just make a scan or a photo (and please make sure it's readable). You may write your solutions in English or in Swedish (or some mixture thereof!).
  • By decision of the Dean of LiTH, the exam on Jan 14 will be given online, using WiseFLOW. More info about this will be given here later. Don't forget to register for the exam (during the registration period 2020-12-15 to 2021-01-04).
